|Minority women are in a situation where it is difficult for them to raise their voices for reform. Firstly, there is a vicious and violent communal polarization threatening the security of minority communities, particularly women. Secondly there are important reformist sections within the communities including women, whose opinions and voices have always been ignored by the establishment. Also, the communal propaganda of Hindutva forces further marginalizes the reformist.|
|AIDWA affirms its commitment to equal rights for women of all communities in every sphere; economic, social, political & legal. We strongly oppose the divisive attempts, whether by the state, certain political parties or fundamentalists of different communities to circumscribe those rights in the name of religion and tradition.|
|Finally, the issue of rights of minority women has to be understood in the context
Of the rights of women in society, rights of minorities per se and rights of women within the community.
