AIDWA can find no sufficient words to condemn the brutal attacks launched by TMC goons and by police in West Bengal against DYFI and AIDWA activists demonstrating against the privatisation of railways, withdrawal of all kinds of passenger services and failure to fill up posts in the railways on 16th February. What is significant is that although it was a protest against the Central Government's policies and the West Bengal CM is always making public speeches criticising Modi, she could not tolerate Left mass-organisations coming up in a strong movement against the latter and unleashed her police and her goons against the demonstrators. This shows up that in reality she is in collusion with BJP. I
n the climactic incident, while the demonstrators were engaged on the rail tracks in a 'rail roko' programme near Jadavpur, the driver of a local train instead of halting on the tracks tried to run over some of the DYFI and AIDWA agitators causing grievous injuries to 4 women, Jharna Nandi, Arati Banerji, Bhaswati Ganguli and Ujjwala Sardar. Jharna's ribs were broken and all of them had to be hospitalized. Without the sanction of the powers that be, such brutality is unthinkable. We hardly expect anything different from the TMC Government and while calling shame upon their terror tactics to prevent democratic movements we feel proud of the courage and steadfastness of our women in the face of such terror. We shall not desist from our fight to expose these fascistic activities and to uphold people's democratic rights against both BJP and TMC.
