AIDWA strongly condemns the horrific attack by the KSU on Kerala Health Minister Veena George. She was attacked by KSU activists today at the Kannur railway station while she was on her way to board a train after attending official programs in Kannur. The attack led to a scuffle despite the presence of the police. She was badly injured, rendered unable to continue her journey, and was shifted to the Kannur District Hospital. An incident where a woman Minister is attacked in such a manner is unprecedented.
This is not just an attack on an individual woman in public office but an attack on all women. We strongly protest against it and demand exemplary punishment for the miscreants. We hope the conscious and democratic public will also come forward and raise their voices against this; and National leadership of Congress should condemn this shameful attack. We hereby call for a nationwide protest against this attack on the Health Minister of Kerala.
