The All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) strongly deplores the concerted attempts at targeting the minority community with the explicit aim of intimidating and harming them. AIDWA strongly condemns this reprehensible communal hate-mongering in Maharashtra.
There have been repeated attempts by some followers of the Sangh Parivar in Maharashtra since December 2022 to spread hatred through offensive and provocative speeches. These speeches vilify the minority communities and associate them with provocative ideas such as love jihad, cow killing with the aim to demonize them. The state government is consciously overlooking such speeches and the resulting hatemongering. These speeches instigate violence and discrimination against the minorities and the silence by the government encourages this violence.
The last few years have witnessed an unrelenting series of vicious attacks on the minority community. Incidents of lynching and physical attack have been accompanied by a barrage of hate speech, threats of murder and rape etc. Those responsible have gone scot-free despite nationwide protests.
This targeted hate campaign against minorities will be resisted by all sections of the people fighting to preserve democracy in our country. AIDWA demands immediate action against the perpetrators this crime and demands that necessary steps are taken by the law enforcement agencies to prevent the occurrence of such acts to terror and intimidation.
