AIDWA strongly condemns the brutal attack on protest march to Nabanno convened by All India Kisan Sabha and supported by 17 left parties of the state. There was unprovoked lathi charge , brick batting , water canons, and tear gas cells on more than two lakhs people coming from the rural belt of West Bengal. Protest was against state government who has failed to give food security and failed to restore law and order in the state. Many farmers have committed suicide because of the anti-peasant and pro-profiteer policies of the TMC Government. AIDWA supported the protest march and many women participated in the protest. Women were lathi charged and women police force was not present when women were attacked. Hundreds of women were injured. Comrade Gargi Chatterjee and Comrade Dipali Mandal were severely injured and in hospital. Many other people including women are still in hospital struggling under wounds. Many women were given first aid. Protests are not tolerated in the state ruled by Mamata Bannerjee. We strongly condemn police atrocities on protest march and silence of Chief Minister in this regard. We also protest the attempt by police to charge sheet and give non bailable charges to the protesters.
