AIDWA Condemns the lathi charge & arrest of Acid attack fighters

AIDWA strongly condemns the lathi charge by Delhi police on acid attack survivors in front of Parliament today, followed by their arrest. These young women have been on relay hunger strike for their just demands and were today protesting against the callousness and inaction of the BJP government in this regard. AIDWA is shocked by the utter failure of the Government to implement Supreme Court guidelines which have mandated a ban on the sale of acid. Unfortunately acid is being sold freely in most regions. AIDWA also urges the Government to fulfill the need for free medical treatment to the acid attack survivors; timely justice through setting up of fast track courts; and sensitive and supportive provision for their long term rehabilitation. We support the struggle that is being waged by these brave fighters and we will continue to raise our voice along with them until their just demands are met.
