The All India Democratic Women's Association (AIDWA) has been standing shoulder to shoulder all over the country with the kisans in their Resistance movement. In Delhi too, the organisation is actively participating in the solidarity actions right through. AIDWA activists have been regularly visiting the protesting farmers on the Tikri and Singhu (Delhi-Haryana) borders.
A delegation of AIDWA leaders and other workers, youth and student organisations met the farmers at the Tikri border on December 1. AIDWA joint secretary, Asha Sharma, AIDWA CEC member, Maimoona Mollah and AIDWA Delhi state committee member, Srabani Chakraborty addressed the gathering in two of the farmers’ camps in Tikri. The organisation assured them of help and demanded the withdrawal of the three anti-farmer laws and the Electricity Bill 2020 immediately.
On November 28, a delegation of women’s organisations including AIDWA, NFIW, PMS and AIAMS met the struggling farmers and extended support. AIDWA joint secretary Jagmati Sangwan and NFIW general secretary Annie Raja addressed the farmers at the camps.
AIDWA units in Punjab and Haryana are continuously on the roads with the struggling farmers. Meetings are being held in the rural areas of Haryana and food grains are being collected for the food arrangements of the farmers who have reached Delhi. AIDWA is participating in the indefinite dharnas organised by the AIKS in various districts of Punjab.
AIDWA has given a call for nationwide protests from December 3 against the severe repression by the BJP-RSS central government and its anti-farmer stance.
