    26 Apr 2020

    To,                                                                                                                                         April 26, 2020
    Shri Narendra Modi
    Prime Minister of India
    New Delhi.

  • WOMEN DEMAND AN END TO TARGETING OF DISSIDENTS AND MINORITIES
    14 Apr 2020

We, the undersigned women’s organisations express strong concern and register our protest against the violations of civil liberties guaranteed by the Constitution, by the Narendra Modi-led Union government and otherstate governments led by the BJP. Recent developments show that the government has been targeting intellectuals and activists as well as prominent journalists who have been questioning the government’s faulty policies. This is a serious attack ontheir democratic, civil and legal rights. FIRs, arrests, imprisonment without evidence have become the new norm.

  • Protect Lives and Livelihoods through Action and not Empty Words
    14 Apr 2020

The All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) expresses its deep disappointment with the Government of India’s inadequate and irresponsible strategy, unveiled by the Prime Minister in his address today, to fight the fast spreading COVID 19 pandemic. The government has extended the All India lockdown period till May 3, 2020 (with some exceptions to industry after April 20), without providing any further economic package to alleviate the miseries and distress of the people.

  • Order dated April 4, 2020 regarding suspension of certain Rules of PcPNDT Act
    10 Apr 2020

    To
Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare,
    Government of India

Subject: Order dated April 4, 2020 regarding suspension of certain Rules of PcPNDT Act

    Shri Dr. Harsh Vardhanji,

  • AIDWA Demands Withdrawal of the Order on Suspension of PcPNDT Rules
    07 Apr 2020

AIDWA  strongly opposes the unjustified move of theDepartment of Health and Family Welfaresuspending rules 8,9 (8) and Rule 18A under the PcPNDT Act, ostensibly due to the Corona Virus pandemic. This suspension goes against the main purpose of the Act to stop sex selection by means of certain basic and vital compliances that genetic labs and clinics etc have to follow in keeping records and submitting these for scrutiny to the appropriate authority and for re- registration.

  • Fulfil Your Promises and Ensure Basic Security for all Vulnerable Sections
    04 Apr 2020

    To,
    Shri Narendra Modi
    Prime Minister of India
    New Delhi.

    Pradhan Mantriji,

  • GOVERNMENT’S COVID PACKAGE: TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE
    27 Mar 2020

The All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) expresses its disappointment at the utterly insufficient Covid relief package announced by the Union Finance Minister yesterday. It reflects great insensitivity to the plight of the crores of lockdown-affectedpoor working people across the country, especially women.

  • AIDWA Demands Free Rations to marginalized and unorganized sections
    19 Mar 2020

The All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) commends the efforts of the Kerala state government which has ensured that underprivileged children continue to have access to midday meals by delivering rice, wheat, beans, oil and snacks to their houses through the ICDS. The state government is also providing nutrition to children below 3 years, lactating mothers and pregnant women.  The Supreme Court has also taken note of it and appreciated the positive steps taken by the Kerala government. AIDWA demands that these steps must be extended to the entire country.

  • AIDWA welcomes upholding of women’s rights in commanding position in the Army
    18 Feb 2020

AIDWA welcomes the judgment of the Supreme Court that all women officers in short service commission are eligible for permanent commission and command posts in all branches of the Army irrespective of the number of years of service. Women in the Army have been fighting for this for the last ten years when the Delhi High Court granted them permanent commission in the Army. However, the government had refused to act on the Delhi High Court judgment.

  • Women Commanders in the Army
    13 Feb 2020

The All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) strongly condemns the patriarchal and feudal attitudes still strong as ever in the government, administration and Armed Forces. This was explicitly exposed during the reply by the government to the Supreme Court during the hearing of the plea filed by a few women officers against the biasness in the Indian Armed Forces.
