AIDWA strongly condemns the recent increase in atrocities against women in West Bengal just before the state assembly polls. In all cases of atrocities the alleged guilty are Trinamul Congress activists. Tea gardens are in deplorable condition with malnutrition deaths every day. The dead body of a raped girl child was found by the side of a river bank in Falakata in Alipurduar on March 25. Such incidents are not new in Falakata and elsewhere and in all cases activists of Trinamul Congress are involved. Another girl student was gangraped and killed and her body was found hanging from a tree in Sagar, South 24 Parganas on March 29. Trinamul Congress activists are alleged to have been involved in this incident as well. AIDWA feels that these are tools used by Trinamul Congress to silence the protests raised by AIDWA and women activists against increased violence and crime against women under Trinamul regime. Trinamul Congress is threatening women of the state before the polls so that they cannot raise their voice. AIDWA condemns the incidents and demands arrest of the criminals and maintenance of peace before the polls so that women can come out to register their voting rights.
