On the evening of 4 June, 2018 a large number of BJP goons, including women, entered the house of Nilanjana Roy, state president of SFI in Tripura, near Agartala, and attacked her physically using abusive language all the while. Her younger sister, her ailing mother and a young cousin also an SFI activist, who tried to shield her, were also beaten up. She sustained injuries on her leg and arms. She somehow managed to extricate herself from her attackers and tried to reach the hospital in an auto rickshaw, but the goons caught hold of her again and dragged her out of the auto rickshaw. She was saved by the intervention of a woman in the neighbourhood who gave her shelter inside her house. Later she was taken to the hospital and released after treatment. But she is still unable to get back home.
AIDWA strongly condemns this dastardly attack and demands that the Tripura Government should immediately arrest the perpetrators and see that this rule of the jungle with continuing violence against Left activists by supporters of RSS-BJP is stopped immediately.
