The All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) has strongly supported the call for protests given by the CITU-AIKS-AIAWU on August 9, 2020. AIDWA activists will mobilise thousands of women all over the country and actively participate in the protests actions.
The failure of the Modi regime to address the acute distress in our country has destroyed the lives of a very large section of the people. Women are the worst hit, being in the lowest rung in our society. AIDWA has a large membership among women in the unorganized sector and have been taking up their issues in various states. It has been consistently campaigning for the enactment of the Urban Employment Guarantee Act. The right to work and equal wages for women has been its long-standing demand. AIDWA activists have always raised their voice for MNREGA work in rural areas.
Food security and free grains, annulment of loans to SHGs, regulation of MFIs and stoppage of harassment by their collection agents, etc are also being taken up by AIDWA units.
The BJP government has trampled upon the democratic rights of citizens and is resorting to authoritarian and fascistic measures to curb dissent and opposition. The RSS is stoking the fires of communalism for creating disturbances in the country to fulfil its agenda.
AIDWA is clearly of the opinion that countrywide united struggles against the anti-people, anti-farmer, anti-worker, anti-women policies is the need of the hour to defeat the designs of the pro-corporate BJP government.
