AIDWA-DYFI-SFI to Conduct Joint Campaign from January 26-30

The All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA), Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) and Students’ Federation of India (SFI) have decided to organize a joint campaign against communalism and attacks on minorities from January 26-30, 2022.

January 26, 1950 is the date when the Indian Constitution came into effect. As the chairman of the drafting committee of the Constituent Assembly, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar is universally acknowledged as one of the main architects of the Constitution of India. The Constitution is a product of the glorious freedom struggle of India against British imperialism. The Constitution declares India to be a sovereign, socialist, secular and democratic republic and assures its citizens justice, equality, liberty and fraternity. These principles are under unprecedented attack under the present RSS-BJP dispensation.

Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated on January 30, 1948 by the RSS and Hindu Mahasabha activist, Nathuram Godse and his accomplices. It is this Godse which the Hindutva forces led by the RSS today glorify and want to build a temple in his name. This same politics of hatred and violence is being carried forward by the BJP-RSS regime, as recently proved by the so-called Dharam Sansads at Haridwar and Raipur.

AIDWA-DYFI-SFI shall fight against such attempts to convert India into a Manuwadi nation professing Hindutva. On January 26, women, youth and students will hold meetings locally wherever possible to read the Preamble and take an oath to protect the Constitution.

An extensive poster campaign propagating the values of democracy, secularism, equality and justice will be carried out in the social media from January 26, Republic Day to January 30, Martyrdom Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

Online protests will be held on January 30 from 11 am to 1 pm. Protests will also be held locally wherever possible and shared on the social media. A Twitter campaign will be held on January 30 from 3 pm to 6 pm.

AIDWA-DYFI-SFI have also decided to hold immediate protests on demands related to food security, employment, privatisation, drop-out of girl students and midday meals after the central budget is placed before Parliament on February 1. The SFI is conducting a survey of girls who have dropped out from schools. AIDWA will also carry out this survey by including girls who have dropped out from colleges. A poster exhibition of around 10 posters on the above issues shall be prepared for the campaign.
