The All India Democratic Women’s Association strongly condemns the order given to the Hindi News Channel NDTV India to go off air on the 9th of November 2016. The order has ostensibly been given for its coverage on the Pathankot attack, when in fact this particular channel’s coverage was no different from other TV channels. This shows that the ban order is selective and NDTV India is being singled out by the government.
We condemn this brazen attack on the freedom of the press, and the fundamental right to freedom of expression in general. It is a measure of the growing fascistic tendencies of the BJP- government. AIDWA demands that the ban be withdrawn forthwith.
