AIDWA strongly condemns the brutal rape and murder of an adolescent girl of tenth class in Kakdwip, South 24 Parganas on 22nd November. This is an incident trailing after Park Street, Kamduni, Katwa and innumerable such in West Bengal under the regime of a woman Chief Minister. The earlier cases are yet to see the justice. AIDWA strongly feels that West Bengal has become a state of rape and violence against women.
AIDWA shows complete solidarity with hundreds of villagers, particularly all women of the village who came out and demanded police to register a case. AIDWA leaders Minati Ghosh, Sabitri Majumdar, Chandana Bhowmik, Shakuntala Paik, Saraswati Das and others along with them were with the villagers. It is only when AIDWA in a delegation with the villagers in a forty-five minutes interaction in police station asked why rape charge was not taken up by the police in FIR report police committed to take up the case. On 23rd November police included rape in the FIR in pressure. has supported the bandh call in Kakdwip on 23rd November in protest. AIDWA demands the arrest of the alleged criminals in the case.
