AIDWA strongly condemns and demands strict action against the violent attack on five women LDF MLAs by some MLAs of the ruling UDF inside Kerala assembly on Friday.
These women MLAs were protesting against Kerala Finance Minister K.M.Mani, who is being investigated for allegedly taking bribe from bar owners to give them permission for selling alcohol. While thousands of people were on the streets protesting against the minister, these women MLAs were also trying to raise their voice inside the assembly. However, the UDF male MLAs including some senior Congress Party leaders physically manhandled the women MLAs and used abusive language against them.
AIDWA demands that FIR should be registered against the ruling coalition MLAs and strict action should be taken. AIDWA would also request the National Commission for Women (NCW) to take cognizance of the violence and take appropriate action. Women’s representatives would also meet the NCW Chairperson in this regard.
