    As reported in the press prime minister’s office has shot down the one stop crisis centre project of WCD which was to provide medical, legal, police and emergency services to survivors in distress under one roof. The centres were proposed one at each district costing Rs. 200 crores in total.

According to the media reports, a 21-year-old girl, who had married out of her own choice outside her community, was strangulated by her parents and relatives after they called her home on the pretext of formalizing the marriage.
