  • AIDWA Statement on Hathras rape case
    12 Oct 2020

AIDWA is deeply concerned about the report in the Hindu  today that the CBI has removed
the FIR in the Hathras case from its website. The earlier website had displayed the FIR by the
Noida Branch stating that an FIR had been registered under S376D and Sections 302 etc for
gang rape and murder. Now the FIR seems to have been deleted. The website now shows that
the CBI will conduct its investigation on the basis of the FIR lodged in the Hathras police station
which does not include rape and murder.

The victim was gang raped and strangulated on September 14when she went to collect fodder from the field.  She succumbed to the horrifying injuries inflicted on her by the rapists at the Safdarjung Hospital where she was admitted in a very critical condition.Seeing her critical condition, the administration should have shifted her immediately to Delhi for treatment.

The All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) strongly condemns the naming of its Patron Brinda Karat in two disclosure statements filed with a charge sheet by the Delhi police obviously at the behest of the BJP government at the centre and specifically the Home Ministry. The naming falsely and preposterously seeks to make her also responsible for the communal violence in North East Delhi. This has been based on two supposed disclosure statements which have been procured by the police, who are well known for their coercive tactics, under 161 CrPc andare anyway in law inadmissible in evi

  • WOMEN FOR LIFE, LIVELIHOOD& DEMOCRATIC RIGHTS Call for Nationwide Proteston 28th August 2020
    27 Aug 2020

The unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic and the unplanned lockdown accelerated the discrimination and devastation of women of all sections, particularly the vulnerable, poor and the daily wage women workers. On the one hand, the lockdown has devastated their livelihood and on the other physical distancing snatched away many women’s source of earning and income. Women have become the shock absorber of the family. As schools are closed and hospitals are turning away patients other than with Covid-19, the elderly and the sick become additional responsibility for women.
