  • AIDWA statement on Repression by the Modi Government
    17 Feb 2021

The All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) has strongly condemned the repressive measures by the Modi government to stifle voices of dissent in our country. The regularity with which the police under the BJP-RSS regime is lodging cases and incarcerating young journalists, lawyers and activists exposes its authoritarian and fascistic character. Most of those arrested have been arbitrarily picked up by the police without even informing their families. No one, including lawyers were allowed to meet some of the imprisoned activists.

  • AIDWA DEMANDS JUSTICE FOR NODEEP KAUR
    12 Feb 2021

The All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) is deeply concerned by the denial of bail, once again, to 23 year old Dalit activist Nodeep Kaur by a Sessions Court of Sonipat after almost a month of detention in Karnal jail, Haryana. During the hearing on Feb 10, the judge has cited the grave offences included in the two FIRs filed against her, in turning down the appeal. This is yet another instance of the legal system lending itself to presuming the accused of being guilty as charged, without taking into account the circumstances and context in which the penal action has occurred.

Taking example from Amit Shah, Mamata Banerjee's police put up iron barricades on all sides of the dharna venue so that the women could not move in any direction.

The All India Democratic Women’s Association denounces the Budget 2021-2022 as anti-women and notes that the Union Government has ignored the difficulties and penury faced by marginalized sections while formulating the budget. This budget comes at the time of the deepening economic crisis during the pandemic and the government’s anti-peoples actions that have been highlighted by the ongoing anti-farm laws agitation, which women have supported overwhelmingly.
